RoadID Review and Giveaway!!

I have two, count’em TWO! RoadID Certs to give away to lucky Cool Kid readers.

Let me tell you about RoadID first. Most of you who read this journal - run. Right? Do you ever go out running on your own? Or at night? Or on roads? Or near dogs? Or on Fault Lines? Or in the Heat? Or in the Cold? Or in the Wild? Or in the Suburbs? Or in New Jersey?

Me: all of the above (well no fault lines that i know about, and NEVER in New Jersey… sheesh). I used to wear a fuel belt so that I could have a pouch to put my ID and other stuff in, but I don’t have to anymore, because I have an AnkleID from RoadID. I tried it on a 16k run the weekend I received it and I was a bit worried it might rub. It doesn’t. I was thinking I might catch it on my other foot or that it may come undone while on the run. It didn’t. I was hoping that it would be the answer to ‘I am a barefoot runner, where do I put my timing chip?’ It was!

Sweet. I have used my RoadID now for 8 runs, ranging in distance from 5k to 21.1k, and have had no issues.  Absolutely full marks!

Best part tho? peace of mind. I was in a situation last spring on a run where a guy collapsed (not a runner, just a pathway user) and needed to be carted away in an ambulance. I got thinking, what if that happened to me? especially when running alone, or in a race? how would my helpers know who I was  if I couldn’t speak, or worse yet… (don’t even want to think about that)

I go out now with a great deal of confidence that my family will be contacted, and I will be properly cared for.

You know what else? I got one for my wife, who is allergic to Penicillin. Can’t even imagine what would happen if first responders gave her penicillin. That would surely suck eggsx3.

AND I did one better. This one is my favourite. I got one for my son. 3 years old and has his own RoadID. Here is my ULTIMATE peace of mind, that if he gets lost in a crowd, they will see this awesome bright red RoadID strapped to his belt loop or his shoe and in one glance they have 4 names and phone numbers to call!  $21.49 shipped. peace. of. mind. priceless.

  1. Okay, this is a first. I'm usually too lazy to enter these contests, but since I didn't get my iPad (offically the most overused joke in running blog history), I want one of those.
